WONDER WOMAN The Golden Age Omnibus Volume 6

More great Golden Age adventures collecting some of the scarcest issues in the run. And we quite enjoy these -- Wonder Woman is evolving with cool hipper adventures and some really wonderful covers. The series enters the 1950s; as other super heroes were falling by the wayside, Wonder Woman, along with Batman and Superman, was among the very few heroes to survive and prosper right on into the 1960s and beyond. This collects the last stories in her long run in Sensation Comics, which are beginning to more fully develop her character. Issue #49 was used in SOTI, and the one from #50 in Parade of Pleasure. The last pre-code issue would be #72. The wonderful covers here are, every single one of them, by Irwin Hasenand Bernard Sachs. I think they were doing a wonderful job of updating Wonder Woman and these are among my favorite covers. They are also highly collectible, as print runs probably fell and copies today are quite scarce, selling for at least a few hundred dollars each for fine or better copies! These two Sensation issues were her last there, capping an excellent run of "all girl" issues that began in Sensation #90. The title changed to Sensation Mystery with #107 to capitalize on the horror/mystery craze of 1952. Again, these final WW issues are fan-favorites for the excellent work by Robert Kanigher. Kanigher was a superb writer, one of DC's best -- his countless stories for the DC War titles made Sgt. Rock and The Haunted Tank fan favorites that are still highly thought of today. *SOTI is Frederic Wertham's book, Seduction of the Innocent, so the examples in this and Parade of Pleasure, another "exposé" on comics and pop culture, would in theory be examples of what was bad for kids in comic books.
