Along with Captain Marvel and the other Whiz regulars, Whiz Comics #23 is notable for featuring the debut of Ibis the Invincible, created by writer Bill Parker and artist C.C. Beck. Ibis was a magician who possessed a magical amulet that granted him various powers, including super strength, flight, and the ability to cast spells. Ibis the Invincible became one of Fawcett Comic's popular characters, appearing in numerous issues of Whiz Comics and later getting his own title. Classic wartime cover.
