WHITE PRINCESS OF THE JUNGLE Volume 1

Somewhat notorious, always featuring good-girl art, pre-code publisher Avon presents their own version of the Jungle Girl mythos! Highlighted here are covers and stories by the superlative Everett Raymond Kinstler who went on to create paperback covers, magazine illustrations and eventually to paint portraits of U.S. Presidents! A young white couple came to Kraal of the Tauruti tribe in Africa with a baby girl they called Taanda -- whose hair was as red as the sunset. But exploring a  ruined temple, they were attacked and killed by a rival tribe -- whose chief took little Taanda and raised her as his own! She grew up protecting the people and animals from poachers -- she was as fast as any beast and as strong as a man and could swing through the tree like a monkey and often rode a zebra! She was skilled with a bow, spear and knife. Issue #1 features her origin and Capt'n Courage. #2 along with White Princess reprints the origin of Malu, Slave Girl Princess from Slave Girl Comics #1 with Malu's name changed to Zora. It features a Kinstler cover and two stories by him. #3 has the origin of the blue Gorilla and another Kinstler cover and story. #4 features Jack Barnum, White Hunter in a one-off appearance reprinted from Sheena Comics #9. #5 features the return of Blue Gorilla, possibly drawn by long-time Classics Illustrated artist Gerald McCann. Plus a Kinstler inside cover contents page (these appeared on most Avon comics at the time) and artwork by Fawcete/Alascia on three stories,
