Description
The Spirit Weekly Newspaper Comics Section Reprints as they appeared in 1940-1941, reproduced in black and white. Grouped in four 10 Comic Section groups with descriptions and originally they were bagged. Bag toppers included--normally you only find these sections loose; the toppers are quite rare. This is the first set of four complete groups I've seen since I was selling these in 1972-73. These were the first-ever Spirit section reprints, done without permission and only sold at comic conventions and thru ourselves and perhaps a few other dealers. Eisner discovered them and said "Cease and Desist!" Sections include: June 2 to August 11, 1940; August 18 to October 20, 1940; October 27 to December 15, 1940 (stated on bag topper, is actually to December 29th 1940); January 5 to Mar 9 1941 (40 sections in all). The Spirit is the alias of Denny Colt, a private investigator in fictional Central City. This collection presents Sunday sections in black & white from 1940-1941. Out of Print. Condition: Very Fine Minus. Light wear.
