Description
Take a journey with the artist and writer Petar Meseldzija, who tells how he was allowed unparalleled access into the land of giants. 16 paintings and nearly 90 drawings bring to life secrets uncovered, going back to ancient times. He frees giants from the murky abyss of myth and a forgotten past, with gorgeous artwork that reminds one of Brian Froud and the Golden Age of Illustration. Told in three stages, The Book of Giants includes the illustrated stories "The Giants Are Coming," recounting a dynamic clash that lasted one hundred years; "The Little Kingdom," where a giant befriends a nation of humans and becomes their adamant protector against ferocious invaders; "The Northern Giants," who embrace the warrior spirit through countless battles; plus "Giant Velles," and "The Great Forest." Discover why giants went underground, why the myth of giants is still alive, why their time spent with humans remains elusive and why giants prefer to remain hidden in their world. We first discovered Petar's stunning work in the early Spectrum annuals. Flesk published his first English language collection, The Legend of Steel Bashaw, in 2010, and he also appears in Flesk Prime. Petar Meseldžija was born in Novi Sad, Serbia, in 1965. He is the recipient of the "Art Show Judges Choice Award" -- 59th World Science Fiction Convention, and two Silver Awards and a Gold Award from Spectrum. Since 2000 he has dedicated himself to gallery art. His original work can be found in private collections in Serbia, the Netherlands, Germany and the U.S. He's also painted covers for books of children's fantasy literature for Scholastic.
