Perelman between 1924 and 1930. To track down these lost treasures, editor Richard Marshall pored through innumerable issues of old humor magazines and unearthed the richest rewards in the pages of Judge. What he has put together is indeed a collection of the early work of one of America's greatest humorists; but it is also the equal in quality and invention of the vintage Perelman of the later years. This is the material that led to Perelman's being invited to Hollywood by the Marx Brothers to work on their scripts and that paved the way to his longtime association with The New Yorker.
