Max Turner (1925-2019) served as an instructor at the California Art Institute, having studied under Hal Reed, a notable pupil of the esteemed Russian-American master Nicolai Fechin. The impact of Fechin's teachings is clearly evident in Max Turner's facial sketches. The stunning collection of his sculptures is showcased on the front cover and continues throughout the pages of the book.
