Description
Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema 1836-1912, features a survey of the artist's work accompanied by new scholarly work on his life drawn from the exhibitions of his works through the Van Gogh Museum and the Walker Art Gallery. Lawrence Alma-Tadema was born in the Netherlands but spent most of his adult life in England, becoming a member of the Royal Academy and later gaining a knighthood. He was the quintessential Classicist painter, taking many of his themes from Greek and Roman Mythology. His work has a rich dream-like quality which is well illustrated in this book from Out of Print. Condition: Very Good. A small gauge out of the top of the back cover and dustjacket (see photo gallery). A smaller similar one at the bottom of the back cover.
