SIMON BISLEY'S ILLUSTRATIONS FROM THE BIBLE

A Work in Progress. The Bible Brought To Life In Four Color Images. Noted fantasy and comics artist Simon Bisley presents this collection of paintings and illustrations depicting the key moments in the life of Christ, with quotes accompanying each illustration.

The story of Bisley's interest in religious art begins a few years earlier when Alex Acevado, of Alexander Gallery, challenged him to put his considerable skill to work illustrating religious stories. Bisley was so inspired by the challenge that he produced a large body of religious themed images, as well as several Roman and Medieval art pieces. Fortunately, Kevin Eastman felt that the drawings deserved to be seen by the public at large and so had a large selection of them published by Heavy Metal magazine in Illustrations From the Bible: A Work in Progress. Bisley's style is strongly influenced by Frank Frazetta, Gustav Klimt, Salvador Dalí, and Richard Corben, Bill Sienkiewicz, and Egon Schiele. He also took inspiration from rock album covers and graffiti as well as traditional comics art. Out of Print. Condition: Very Fine.
