Marvel and Capt. Marvel Jr. back in the late 1940s, so he was a perfect choice to put on this reincarnation. His work on Superman Comics and Lois Lane showed his talent at doing beautiful linework, realistic characters and settings. And Don Newton had begun his career in fandom, drawing outrageously great covers for the legendary fanzine The Rocket's Blast. Don kicked off his professional career drawing The Phantom and those are so good, they've been collected into an archive volume. Here he takes on The Big Red Cheese, another fine choice of talent.
