ROY THOMAS PRESENTS FRANKENSTEIN IN PRIZE COMICS Volume 2

An extra thick collection of 21 wild stories from the ultra-rare issues of Prize Comics. Volume 2 collects the "Frankenstein" stories from Prize Comics. Special 8-page illustrated introduction, "Heil, Frankenstein" by Don Glut. Our lad even picks up a "ghoul-friend," Zora! Wild, fun stories full of creativity. Due to the difficulty of collecting together all these issues, PS Artbooks began this series with Volume 3, and published through volume 8 all in hardcover editions. Many of these are now out of print. This (plus Volume 1) finally completes the set, with all the stories that appeared as back up strips in Prize, where Frankenstein made his very first appearance in comic book form. Dick Briefer's Frankenstein eventually got his very own title from the same publisher, which ran for 33 issues from 1945 to 1954. The Frankenstein stories began as a more serious movie-inspired series of stories. But by 1945, Briefer decided to lighten it up. That's what you'll find in this volume. But eventually Dick or the publishers decided to get serious again. They caught the horror bug and went big time into dark, murderous stories (that are my personal favorites) starting with issue #18 of Frankenstein and running to the end of that series, long after the strip had breathed it's last in the pages of Prize Comics.
