This is the 2nd book in the Mac Coy French Series --the setting for it is the Wild West and the end of the North American Civil War. Captain Alexis Mac Coy was degraded at the end of the war between Confederates and Northerners, then quickly enlisted by the Yankees because of his bravery and his sense of devotion. He goes on a mission to Mexico in search of the rest of the Southerners' campaign treasure accompanied by his inseparable adventure companion Sergeant Charley.
