Trapped in "billiard ball" the sterile planet, with specimens of all the thinking races of the galaxy, Stell and Atan manage to escape, thanks to a mysterious pyramid, from the destination Edena, the mythical planet. But when they wake up, they find themselves abandoned to their own fate in an immense apparent desert garden.
The change of environment transforms them little by little, especially revealing sexual characteristics previously hidden by the inhibiting substances contained in the food synthetic reserved for astronauts. This return of natural impulses causes a conflict between the two friends, followed by a breakup and separation.
Another notable consequence of the adaptation to Edena is the irruption into consciousness of the mysterious world of dreams. Atan, now Atana, finds himself alone in the immense edenic forest.
