Description

Drawn by Charles Sultan, one of Fawcett's best artists. During World War II, Jack Weston is an army private in prime physical condition who dons a patriotic costume and becomes the Minute Man, a “One Man Army!” He fights enemy agents, including his nemesis femme fatale Illyria, Queen of the Spies, robot spies, ten foot tall Nazi monsters and agents of the Black Dragon Society. His double identity is known to his superior officer, General Milton, who sends the Minute Man on unsanctioned missions behind enemy lines. Classic wartime stories! Begins with his origin in Master Comics #11. He eventually got three issues of his own in 1941-42 and also ran in Master Comics #11-49. He also was a cover feature in America's Greatest Comics along with Captain Marvel and Bulletman, so Fawcett considered him one of their best WWII heroes. Here's a taste of what we expect to see in Volume 2: Minute Man #1 sports a great Charles Sultan cover, which is every bit as good as the best Lou Fine was doing at the time. Sultan deserves much more credit! He also draws the 16-page opening story, "The Redemption of Major Von Hartz", the next 14--page story, "No Rest for Minute Man" and in fact, the other two  15 page stories, "Illyria, Queen of Spies" and "The Servants of Korozan." Wow, it's an all Charles Sultan issue, with all the stories attributed to Otto Binder.  In #2, Japanese forces invade New York City, and the Statue of Liberty is on the cover. Minute Man lasted just one more issue on his own, but as you see above he had a good run in Master Comics.
