LAWRENCE ALMA-TADEMA

Lawrence Alma-Tadema's work has a rich dream-like quality and is well illustrated in this full color book which has four chapters: The Young Dutchman, Romance & History, The History Maker, & All’s Right in the World. 

This first chapter tells of Lawrence Alma-Tadema's life. He was  born in the Netherlands but spent most of his adult life in England, becoming a member of the Royal Academy and later gaining a knighthood. He was the quintessential Classicist painter, taking many of his themes from Greek and Roman Mythology.
