JIM APARO'S DC CLASSICS ARTIST'S EDITION

Jim Aparo was one of DC’s most prolific artists through the 1970s and 1980s, especially celebrated for his work on Batman in The Brave and the Bold and Detective Comics, and The Spectre in Adventure Comics. This Artist’s Edition presents more than 175 pages of classic Aparo art from what is regarded as his peak period and features eight complete The Brave and the Bold and The Spectre stories, as well as a selection of classic covers and other pages. Although appearing to be in black and white, all the art is scanned in color, enabling the reader to see the work as close to the original as possible – ink gradients, blue pencil, and all the unique nuances that make original art so special – are all clearly visible and printed at the same size as drawn. Many fans favor the Adams-era Batman, but a large swath of Bat-Fans is coming around to Aparo's own take on the Dark Knight. This Artist’s Edition of his work is an artbook disguised as a comic collection. Maybe the only better way to see these pages would be to peer over Jim's shoulder at his drawing board! Still one of my favorite Batman illustrators, this Artist’s Edition also includes Jim’s exceptional work on Michael Fleischer’s very wicked Spectre tales from Adventure Comics.
