Description

Set the Way-Back Machine for "Fun" and journey back to the Golden Age of Comics with this new collection of vintage stories! Golden Age Comics from the Old Fan's Attic presents a nostalgic selection of rarely seen horror, humor, and superhero titles, which includes the original Daredevil by Jack Cole, Power Nelson, Yank and Doodle (who grace the cover of this collection), Quicksilver, Pat Patriot, Private Rook, Margie and Mac, and Kid Patrol. These titles were offered by Quality Comics, Prize Comics and other publishers in support of the troops and civilians at home during WWII, with adventures that pitted our heroes against spies, saboteurs and, of course, the Nazis. Not only are these comics fun to read and look at, but they offer a unique glimpse into a bygone era of wartime struggles and four-color patriotism. Author/Editor Howard L. Davis is a lifelong collector of comics and a passionate writer about their history. He donated much of his Golden Age comics collection to Columbia University where it is kept today. This volume represents some of his favorite stories and characters from the Golden Age era.
