GHOST RIDER Volume 4

Created by Dick Ayers and Ray Krank. The final four issues of the iconic western slash horror title that inspired the Marvel reboot and Hollywood films. Here is a bondage cover, a one-eyed devil, and lots of dark, mysterious adventures in the wild west. Our hero uses people's fear of the unknown to give him the advantage in gun battles and mounted adventures. Wearing a white outfit covered with phosphorus and using a cape with phosphorescence on one side and black on the other, he could cover parts of his body to give the illusion that he was merely a floating head or pair of hands. To further the illusion, he wielded a black lariat and black bullwhip; even his horse Spectre glowed in the dark! The Ghost Rider battled many foes who, like him, were not truly supernatural at all, such as an imposter of Frankenstein’s Monster and the Harpy, werewolves and vampires! Dick Ayers was at his best here, in what he said later was his favorite times in comics. Dick of course would soon become Jack Kirby's regular inker on the Marvel monster books and then on The Fantastic Four, The Incredible Hulk and much more.
