Krazy and Ignatz The Komplete Kat Komics Volume 1 contains reprints of the Sunday pages from April 23, 1916, to December 31, 1916. The introduction "The Kat's Kreation" is written by Bill Blackbeard. It follows George Herriman through all his strips involving animals, to show the genesis of the "Kat". The end piece "The Kat Maker George Herriman" by Bill Blackbeard, describes the spirit of George. The introduction reproduces an entire 1918 comic page of the New York Journal, including a Krazy Kat strip, a Baron Bean, a Poly And Her Pals and other comic strips.
