Jack Edward Jackson, 1941–2006), is an American cartoonist was considered by many to be the first underground comix artist and noted illustrator of historical comic strips. He co-founded the seminal Rip Off Press, which published this limited edition (of 1,000) portfolio in 1970. This boxed RARE portfolio contains a collection of pen and ink, watercolor, and painted pieces, each printed on a separate sheet. A tough find on its own, this set comes from the artist's personal collection. Among the rarest of the rare on the Underground Comix Scene: Jaxon's distinctive signature graces the protective box containing these 86 loose sheets (8" x 11") of reproductions of his various drawings, paintings, and sketchbook doodles. The outer sides are printed in combinations of red, gold, and black; interiors are printed in black on white stock. Examples of Jackson's published works include God's Bosom,  Secrets of San Saba, and Los Tejanos and Lost Cause. Signed "Jaxon" in ink on the back by Jackson. Out of Print. Condition: Fine plus.
