The ERB Authorized Library's seventh set of four volumes (Tarzan 21-24) features Tarzan the Magnificent, Tarzan and the Foreign Legion, Tarzan and the Madman, and Tarzan and the Castaways. These new hardcover editions feature gorgeous new cover art and frontispieces by Joe Jusko; forewords by Wolf Larson, Robert B. Zeuschner, Thomas Yeates, and Joe Jusko. These are being published in the order of their first appearances. So this is it, the final four novels that ERB wrote in his lifetime, including ones published after he died in 1950. They are among the least reprinted Tarzan novels, often not included in the many earlier hardcover and paperback series. Tarzan the Magnificent (1936-1938) Tarzan encounters a lost race with uncanny mental powers, after which he revisits the lost cities of Cathne and Athne, previously encountered in the earlier novel Tarzan and the City of Gold. As usual, he is backed up by Chief Muviro and his faithful Waziri warriors. Tarzan and the Foreign Legion (1947) While serving in the R.A.F. under his civilian name of John Clayton during World War II, Tarzan is shot down over the island of Sumatra in the Japanese-occupied Dutch East Indies. He uses his jungle survival skills to save his comrades in arms, and fight the Japanese while seeking escape from enemy territory. Tarzan and the Madman (1964) Tarzan tracks down yet another impostor resembling him, who is under the delusion he is Tarzan. First published by Canaveral Press with Reed Crandall illustrations, some (or all) of which appear in the bonus material in this new edition. Tarzan and the Castaways (1965) Collection of three unconnected short stories. First published by Canaveral Press with Frank Frazetta illustrations, reproduced in the bonus section in this new edition.
