The EC line of comics shook up the 1950s, and the shocking audacity of their stories drew the scrutiny of Congress and the eventual creation of the Comics Code, effectively killing EC. But the stories live on! Al Feldstein and William Gaines and illustrated by Jack Davis, Reed Crandall, Graham Ingels, Jack Kamen, George Evans, Joe Orlando, and Marie Severin. Stories include The Rack, Curiosity Killed.., Tight Squeeze, Only Skin Deep, Last Laugh, The Craving Grave, The Sleeping Beauty, Food for Thought, and Half-Baked, plus much more. The long and personal foreword by Russ Cochran was written in 2013, while Russ was still with us. It's called "Bill and Me," and is about his close friendship with Bill Gaines. Russ gives Bill credit for convincing him to quit his teaching career and become a full time publisher. As such, he did the Complete EC series of slip-cased volumes, started Gemstone, published and reprinted all the EC comics as actual comics, and much, much more. It's a touching piece, with several photos. It was written for the first hardcover edition of this.
