DAVE STEVENS Selected Sketches & Studies Volume 4 Signed

Last copies of Dave’s wonderful 4th sketchbook, with several pages of life studies -- full nudes -- of gorgeous young models. Also work from Star Wars (he helped on the 1980 newspaper strip), his 1977 Christmas card, Elvira, The Shadow & Doc Savage, Michael Jordan, fanzine covers, Madman, Aurora, Superman, Syn, Julie, and much more. He is most famous for creating The Rocketeer comic book and film character, and for his pin-up style “glamour art” illustrations, especially of model Bettie Page. He was the first to win Comic-Con International’s Russ Manning Most Promising Newcomer Award in 1982, and received both an Inkpot Award and the Kirby Award for Best Graphic Album in 1986. A great collection of character studies and finished drawings in pencil and pen & ink. Dave produced each of his five sketchbooks himself, limited to 1200 and signed. When he passed away, at far too young an age, he left behind many unsigned sketchbooks, which in fact he sold to us. He had never signed each and every one of several of the editions. Dave only signed them as he needed to, thus leaving behind as many as 100 plus copies never actually numbered and signed! Thus there are most like less than 1200 of these that were actually signed. For several years, we were selling both signed and unsigned copies until we had completely sold out of our entire stock. We can authenticate the signatures -- these came from the same source as our other recent sketchbooks from Big Wow, and our contact was a friend of Dave's who put these aside many years ago, when Dave was still with us. - Bud
