CRYPTOLOGY #8

In this issue, the Cryptologists delve into the personal lives of horror's icons and discover what Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff, and their cohorts were up to when they weren’t appearing in our favorite horror movies — you’ll be shocked! Also, a look at the gruesome EC Comics artwork of "Ghastly" Graham Ingels; an in-depth examination of Norman Bates, courtesy of Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho, Robert Bloch, and his real-life inspiration, Ed Gein. Plus, Psycho II screenwriter and Fright Night director Tom Holland is interviewed, the "Killer-B" section goes back to school with a look at teen horror movies, and the Cryptologists begin their examination of the Pre-Code Horror comics, beginning in 1938. All this an more from a talented crew of writers and researchers, overseen by editor Peter Normanton. This is, hands down, my favorite mag! Being a "Monster Kid" from way back and a lifelong Horror aficionado, I find each issue to be filled with the kind of stuff that '60s me was so into while reading Famous Monsters or other monster movie mags of the era. If monsters and horror in all media are your thing, then you should definitely be reading Cryptology with me! ~Marty
