CONAN The Tower of the Elephant

Oversized hardcover with double-page paintings accompanied by the complete text of Robert E. Howard's novella, early in Conan's career. French artist Valentin Secher is outstanding here with the first adaptation in a new French series from Bragelonne Publishers. In the Maul district of Zamora, where bandits go to celebrate their crimes, a young barbarian with black hair, broad shoulders and powerful torso, hears a Kothian talking about the Tower of the Elephant. The thief tells him that it contains in its heights the Heart of the Elephant, a marvelous jewel that offers wealth and powers to the one who holds it. Without preparation, Conan the Cimmerian undertakes the ascent of this tower reputed to be impregnable, a journey that will test the body and mind of the barbarian in one of his earliest encounters with supernatural forces. This gloriously illustrated work is an adaptation of one of the most celebrated Conan stories by creator Robert E. Howard. Born in 1988 in France, Valentin Secher graduated in 2009 from the Pivaut Art School where he discovered artists like Moebius, Norman Rockwell, Drew Struzan, Travis Charvest and of course Jodorowsky. That same year, Valentin met prolific comics creator Jean-Luc Istin who offered him the opportunity to create a space opera comics series with writer Stephane Louis: KHAAL, 2 books published in 2011 and 2016 in French by Soleil, and in 2017 in English by Titan Comics. Valentin followed that series by tackling the legendary character of the Metabaron for Humanoids, starting with THE METABARON BOOK 1, published in 2016. He's gone on to Michael Moorcock's Elric series, recently taking on the new releases. In 2011 he drew Hour of the Dragon for Glenat and his mastery of painting has gained him the prestigious first release in this new series of handsome, oversized books with the complete original REH text accompanied by glorious double-page, full color panoramic paintings to carry you through the story.
