This set is the first and second issues of the classic Beyond Mars in the five issue mini-series. The popular Beyond Mars series originated as a Sunday strip that ran in New York's Daily News from February 1952 to May 1955. Fans will enjoy this action packed adventure, as the heroes continue traveling across the universe. Issue 1 reprints the Sundays-only comic strip from the 1950s written by sci-fi legend Jack Williamson. This issue collects the strips from February 17, 1952 – June 14, 1953. In the 22nd century, pilot and spatial engineer Mike Flint has light-hearted adventures on the Asteroid Belt. Mike and his Venusian sidekick, Tham Thmith, investigate interplanetary malfeasance on The Diamond Asteroid. Then they match wits with Buck Bullard, Space Pirate, and encounter the space anomaly known as the Death Rock. Also featuring a behind-the-scenes article about the creation of the strip by Jack Williamson. 92 pages, B&W. The second  issue reprints strips from June 21, 1953 – March 13, 1955. In the 22nd century, pilot and spatial engineer Mike Flint has light-hearted adventures on the Asteroid Belt. The conclusion of the Death Rock adventure; A mysterious drug called star dust leaves human wreckage scattered across the solar system and a mad plot to hijack an entire city brings Mike back to Earth.
