Anna Sewell’s story of the horse, Black Beauty, and his experiences in life with his various owners -- some kind, some cruel. This was a new version of the 1949 adaptation, done in 1960. Outstanding art by the famous L.B. Cole who went to work for Gilberton, publisher of Classics Illustrated, after his noted stint doing comics and covers in the 1940s and 1950s. This is one of his rare instances of doing an entire story, with help from Classics regular Norman Nodel. Painted cover by Albert Micale.
