Description
Roy Krenkel who often signed his work RGK, was an American illustrator who specialized in fantasy and historical drawings and paintings for books, magazines and comic books. Danton Burroughs, the grandson of Edgar Rice Burroughs, commented, "Roy Krenkel was a key factor in the 1960s revival of my grandfather's writings. Krenkel's illustrations forever secured his position as one of the all-time great Edgar Rice Burroughs illustrators.Roy was close friends with Frank Frazetta and Al Williamson, and he often worked on Al Williamson's EC sci-fi stories. Roy painted the first of the Ace paperback covers in the early 1960s revival of ERB's Tarzan and Mars stories, then brought Frazetta on board to take on more covers. The rest is history. Roy also illustrated many more paperback covers as well as hard cover ERB editions and other books Here you'll see 180 of his best sketches, drawings and paintings on historical subjects and settings.
