Description

Hermann two book set: Caatinga & Blood Ties. Where is the author Hermann taking us this time? No less than 90 years ago, in the 1930s, he went to South America, more precisely to the northeast of Brazil, to the semi-desert province of Sertao, which is dominated by characteristic vegetation, known as Caatinga. Two young peasants, Diamantino and Manuelito, fleeing from the landowner Aristarco Y Souza who killed their entire family, meet the gang of Cangaceiros led by Clovis Mendes. They join a gang and soon learn all the cruelty and suffering that such a life brings. Hermann has also created many non-series graphic novels sometimes together with his son Yves H. One of them, Blood Ties. It is a noir story set in the world of American gangster films, published by Dark Horse Publishing in 2000. The graphic novel is known for its dark and gritty atmosphere, as well as the strong narrative and visual storytelling. Hermann is characterized by a realistic style and stories that are both somber and angry, with a sense of disillusion with regards to the human character in general, and current society more specifically. Beautifully drawn in full color by Hermann. Both are Limited edition numbered to 100 ( 1/100) & 500 (Caatinga 293/500), each signed in pencil by Hermann on a tipped-in bookplate. Both are in a near perfect unmarked edition in a cardboard slipcase. Mature Readers. Out of Print. Condition: Very Fine. (Books). Fine. (Plain white cardboard slipcases). Nicks and bumps.
