Description
Never before offered. Watchmen, Judge Dredd, Hellblazer, Batman: The Killing Joke, Razorjack: John Higgins has been the artist or colorist on some of the most iconic comic books of recent years. Here, collected together for the first time, is the best of Higgins' often powerful work. Alongside never before seen preliminary drawings of now iconic characters, the book includes insights into his career. Beyond the Watchmen and Judge Dredd is partly an essential book for all enthusiasts and partly an instruction manual for those wanting to understand just what it takes to land a contract with DC Comics, and work as a freelance artist. Higgins is a frequent collaborator with Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. We like the variety of work here, superb painted covers and pages, and many insights and behind-the-scenes looks at the process from prelim pencils to finished page or cover. This is a first class art book on an artist not terribly well known in the U.S., but whose work you will quickly recognize from his many important contributions. This may have had limited distribution in the U.S., being published as it was in Liverpool, England. We've never handled it before, so it's great to offer it at a new bargain price since it has turned up as a remainder/sale book. - Bud
