She was an animal rights activist, actress, singer, and model. Famous for portraying sexually emancipated characters, often with hedonistic lifestyles, she was one of the best known activists in the sexual revolution of the 1950s–1970s. Bardot appeared on the cover of Elle in 1952, which landed her an offer for a small part in the comedy film "Crazy for Love" the same year, directed by Jean Boyer and starring Bourvil.  She was paid 200,000 francs (about 575.00 1952 US dollars) for the small role portraying a cousin of the main character. She had her second film role in "Manina, the Girl in the Bikini" (1953), directed by Willy Rozier. She also had roles in the 1953 films "The Long Teeth" and "His Father's Portrait".
