Description
First Edition. The Golden Age of American poster design was brief but brilliant, calling on the talents of the best known artists of the day. The heyday of the poster was the last decade of the 19th century, when the poster came into its own as the perfect advertising medium. Here, for the first time, the American poster artists and their work are brought together in a single lavishly illustrated volume, including Will Bradley, Charles Cox, and R.F. Outcault, just to name a few. Often time these artists looked to their European counterparts, such as, Chéret, Much and Beardsley along with the aesthetic ideas set forth by the English arts and the Crafts' movement for inspiration. Condition: Very Fine.
