American Aphrodite A Quarterly for the Fancy, four book set: Volume 3 #12, Volume 5 #17, Volume 5 #18, Volume 5 #20. American Aphrodite  focused on themes of sexuality and was considered quite controversial in its time. American Aphrodite usually featured things like mild erotic line drawings, some piece of long-out-of-print British literature (the “scandalous” seventeenth-century plays of Aphra Behn appear in many issues), a “bawdy” new translation from Chaucer, and something truly shocking.
Volume 3 #12: This issue is dedicated to James Hanley and contained a short story by him. It also included an open letter from the editor to the Postmaster regarding the accusations of obscenity made against this publication, an article on forbidden books by "an old bibliophile," and poetry by Alfred Hines, Jr.. (No dustjacket).
Volume 5 #17:  Includes: Frozen Anglo-Saxon Fury Unleashed, Seduction Story, Dante's Purgatory and Two Sisters. 
Volume 5 #18: Includes: Son Of Man, Eating Cherries, Another Book For Suppression and One In A Million. 
Volume 5 #20: Includes: Danti, A Living Vacuum and Papal Visions, and The Nymphs of Fiesole. (No dustjacket).

Out Of Print. Out Of Print. Condition: Good. Light rubbing on the edges and light corner bumping on all four books. Small tears along the edges of the dustjacket front cover and top corner bend on Volume 5 #17. Small piece missing from bottom of spine of dust jacket of Volume 5 #18. No dustjackets for Volume 3 #12 & Volume 5 #20.
