Description

The concluding volume of Amazing Man, the second super-hero (after Superman) to have a comic book named after him. Everett drew all the early stories, but by this point, he'd moved over to Timely and Eastern. But Paul Gustavson, who created The Angel for Timely in the first issues of Marvel Mystery, took over and does a fine job. Then the legendary Sam Glanzman draws several of the stories. Glanzman is best known today for his war comics work for Charlton, which have been compiled in at least two major collections. In 1914, an orphaned child named John Aman was chosen by the Tibetan Council of Seven and trained to be a superman, both in mental and physical perfection. His powers include super strength, invulnerability and the ability to make himself disappear in a cloud of green vapor. When he turned twenty-five, after his final tests, he was sent into the world to combat crime and injustice, returning to America to become the heroic Amazing Man with his continuing battles with arch-enemy "The Great Question!" Published by upstart Centaur, this series has always been very difficult to find and has never before been reprinted. Historians credit his creation variously to writer-artist Bill Everett and art director Lloyd Jacquet, although some credit may be due to Grace Everett, who helped with research. This completes the run of stories in Amazing Man Comics (there were backup features that are not collected here). Amazing Man was also the cover feature and lead story in Stars and Stripes #2 and 3, and continued as a back-up strip in #4-6, completing all of his Golden Age appearances. These are all included here!
