Alley as he crashes into the War in the Pacific, becomes a screen star in Hollywood's Golden Age and tries to make a film with Oola in prehistoric times, finds lost Atlantis with Oola, and the time machine starts bringing dinosaurs into modern times! Volume 3 kickstarted this series after a several year hiatus and has been very popular, as have been all the Oop collections. It's fun stuff, as Alley and Oola cavort around the centuries dropping into one big adventure after another. Very well reproduced. Introduction by Rev. Pete Malik, who began corresponding with Hamlin in 1969. It turns out Hamlin enlisted and went to France in 1916 as part of the American Expeditionary Force of the Sixth Army. He encountered poison gas and while in the hospital, began developing his interest in cartooning! He tried to enlist again in World War II but was too old at 41, with a wife and two kids. So he wrote a Hitler facsimile into the strip, a character called Eeny and her hairshirts take over Moo as far back as 1938, and brought her back in 1942. He also pushed buying war bounds as a "footer" in many of the wartime strips, always with Oop and totally original pieces. This is just some of the interviews Malik recorded in his correspondence and his actual meeting with Hamlin in the early 1970s.
