Al Capp's classic comic strip Li'l Abner was reprinted in a series of 27 volumes by Kitchen Sink Press in the 1990s and subsequent reprints are a chronological reprinting of the Li'l Abner daily comic strips. This set of volumes 14, 18-20 & 25-26 cover the years 1948, 1952-1954 & 1959-1960.
Volume 14 - 1948! Abner meets the Shmoo. The Shmoo was lovable little character that captured the imagination of America and was soon seen on tons of merchandising products all across the globe. This fourteenth volume reprints the 1948 daily strips and includes an introduction by Harlan Ellison. Also included is an article that puts the strip into the historical context of 1948.

Volume 18 - 1952! The Wedding of Li'l Abner and Daisy Mae. After 15 years of chasing Abner at the Sadie Hawkins Days, Daisy Mae has finally caught her man. Creator Al Capp shocks and delights America with the marriage of everyone's favorite hillbillies. The event was so huge at the time that Abner and Daisy graced the cover of the March 31, 1952 issue of Life Magazine. This eighteenth volume reprints the 1952 daily strips and includes introductions by Al Capp and Nobel Prize-Winning author John Steinbeck.

Volume 19 - 1953! The Birth of Mysterious Yokum. Abner joins an all ladies' wrestling league and he and his new bride Daisy Mae welcome into the world their very own bundle of joy, "Mysterious" Yokum. This nineteenth volume reprints the 1953 daily strips and includes an illustrated introduction by Tom Andrae detailing the history of the long-lost Fearless Fosdick television series.

Volume 20 - 1954!  The Famous Parody of Brando's The Wild One. This 20th volume reprints the 1954 daily strips. The return of the Shmoon: The beloved Shmoos return to Dogpatch, resuming their roles as symbols of anti-capitalist abundance.

Volume 25 - 1959!  Abner Goes to Hollywood. This volume collects the daily strips from 1959, centering on Abner's trip to Hollywood. Hollywood adventure: The main storyline follows Abner's journey to Hollywood, likely satirizing the movie-making industry and celebrity culture.
Volume 26 - 1960! The Return of Wolf Gal. This volume collects the daily strips from 1960, featuring the return of the carnivorous Wolf Gal. Wolf Gal's war on humanity: One of the wildest women in the comic returns and arms the animal kingdom, declaring war on the human race in an early form of environmental fable.
