AL CAPP'S LI'L ABNER DAILIES Volumes 10-15

Al Capp's classic comic strip Li'l Abner was reprinted in a series of 27 volumes by Kitchen Sink Press in the 1990s and subsequent reprints are a chronological reprinting of the Li'l Abner daily comic strips. This set of volumes 10-15 cover the years 1944-1949, originally released in 1993. It also features artwork by Frank Frazetta, who assisted Al Capp on the strip during this period.

Volume 10: Capp takes his distinct brand of satire to new heights as he tackles two of the biggest icons of 1944, Frank Sinatra and Dick Tracy. This tenth volume reprints the 1944 daily strips and includes an introduction to Fearless Fosdick by Dick Tracy writer Max Allan Collins. Also included is an article that puts the strip into the historical context of 1944.

Volume 11: Creator Al Capp brings Abner Yokum and his bizarre cast of friends and foes into the post-war era of 1945. Volume 12: Meet Lena the Hyena, ugliest girl in the world, along with Wolf Gal and Lower Slobbovia. This twelfth volume reprints the 1946 daily strips and includes an introduction by Richard Marschall.

Volume 13: Abner travels to Lower Slobbovia, New York, and goes to college. This thirteenth volume reprints the 1947 daily strips and includes an introduction by Elliott Caplin, Al Capp's brother. Also included is an article that puts the strip into the historical context of 1947.

Volume 14: Abner meets the Shmoo. The Shmoo was lovable little character that captured the imagination of America and was soon seen on tons of merchandising products all across the globe. This fourteenth volume reprints the 1948 daily strips and includes an introduction by Harlan Ellison. Also included is an article that puts the strip into the historical context of 1948.

Volume 15: Meet the Shmoo's cousins the Kigmy. Lovable, these hairy little critters liked to be kicked in their over-sized bottoms thus relieving all of mankind's' tension. This fifteenth volume reprints the 1949 daily strips and includes an introduction by comics historian Ron Goulart and an illustrated article about the creation of the Kigmy.
