One of the very earliest books on comic strips and their creators. Only the very rare compilation preceded this. All the great milestones are covered — the first daily comic, "Mr. A. Mutts" in 1907; the first animated cartoon of merit, "Gertie the Dinosaur" in 1909; the division between the entertainers and the thinkers, expressing two different views of the purpose of art, along with so much more!
