All the Embleton and Burns double-page spreads are printed as deluxe fold-outs, 60 in all, in this handsome oversized volume. This is the first time since their first publication in \u003cem\u003eBoys' World\u003c\/em\u003e in 1958 that these strips have been reprinted. The stories have been professionally scanned and color adjusted to create the feel of the original artwork in this deluxe collector's volume.\n\n\u003cem\u003eBoys' World\u003c\/em\u003e was a boys' comic magazine published in the UK by Longacre Press. It ran for 89 issues beginning on 26 January 1963, and in 1964 it merged with the \u003cem\u003eEagle\u003c\/em\u003e. \u003cem\u003eBoys' World\u003c\/em\u003e featured the mythological serial strip \u003cem\u003eWrath of the Gods,\u003c\/em\u003e painted in \u003cem\u003ecolor\u003c\/em\u003e by \u003cstrong\u003eRon Embleton\u003c\/strong\u003e and the earliest comic strip parody of Doctor Who: Dr. What and His Time Clock. Among the other artists who worked for the comic were Brian Lewis and Frank Bellamy. Writers included Harry Harrison, Sydney Jordan and Michael Moorcock.\n\nIn the 7th December issue Bellamy started his next regular weekly assignment with “Brett Million and the Ghost World”. The story has our hero going to the planet Eisen, a mining planet, where people and things are disappearing. Needless to say, it is not ghostly activity, but Million discovers the planet’s natives are moving faster than humans can. The story ends after 21 episodes in which Bellamy shows even with one page he can create dynamic panels. Many trademark Bellamy devices are here from space shots to futuristic hardware similar to his Dan Dare creations.\n\nFrank Bellamy is much loved for his work on Dan Dare, Heros the Spartan, Thunderbirds, Fraser of Africa and many other well known British adventure strips, His artwork was second to none. Bellamy worked continuously on \u003cem\u003eGarth\u003c\/em\u003e for five years, although drawing in black and white rather than color gave him time to maintain a number of other regular commissions. In 1969 he drew the first comic strips \u003cem\u003eThe Sunday Times\u003c\/em\u003e had ever run in its magazine as non-fiction journalism. He also regularly produced illustrations for the BBC's \u003cem\u003eRadio Times\u003c\/em\u003e television listings magazine, in particular for the\u003cem\u003e Doctor Who\u003c\/em\u003e television program.\n\nFrank Bellamy died suddenly in 1976, at the height of his powers. He had plans for many projects, including a Western strip he was to write himself, inspired by the spaghetti westerns of Sergio Leone. The Society of Strip Illustration (co-founded by Denis Gifford) named one of its awards after Bellamy: The Frank Bellamy Award for Lifetime Achievement.\n\nRonald Sydney Embleton (6 October 1930 - 13 February 1988) was a British illustrator who gained fame as a comics artist. In the 1950s and 1960s, Embleton also pursued a career as an oil painter, and he exhibited his works widely in Britain, Germany, Australia, Canada and the USA. He was a member of the London Sketch Club and the National Society of Painters, Sculptors and Printmakers, and in 1960 was elected a member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters.\n\nFollowing Embleton's death at age 57, his obituary in The Times described him as \"responsible for some of the finest \u003cem\u003efull-color\u003c\/em\u003e adventure series in modern British comics ... a grandmaster of his art.\"\n\nIn the 1960s, Embleton was also a prolific contributor to\u003cem\u003e Look and Learn\u003c\/em\u003e, producing illustrations for numerous series. In 1969, Embleton illustrated a fill-in story in the long-running \u003cem\u003eTrigan Empire\u003c\/em\u003e.\n\nIn 1971, he became a frequent contributor to IPC's \u003cem\u003eWorld of Wonder\u003c\/em\u003e magazine, a similar publication to \u003cem\u003eLook and Learn\u003c\/em\u003e which also relied on painted illustrations by a roster of British artists. Embleton provided artwork for long-running features such as Men of Waterloo (1971), Ships of the Seven Seas (1971), The Winning of the West (1972) and Mutiny!
