Kirby regularly teamed with Simon, creating numerous characters for that company and for National Comics Publications, later to become DC Comics. Wanting to start where they left off, Simon convinced \u003cstrong\u003eAlfred Harvey\u003c\/strong\u003e to hire him and Kirby to \u003cem\u003eHarvey Publications\u003c\/em\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\nJack Kirby's birth name was \u003cstrong\u003eJacob Kurtzberg\u003c\/strong\u003e. He was and still is widely regarded as one of the medium's major innovators and one of its most prolific and influential creators. He grew up in New York City and learned to draw cartoon figures by tracing characters from comic strips and editorial cartoons.
