Genre goes from serious horror, to comic adventures, and back to horror again over the eight years as a back-up strip in \u003cem\u003ePrize Comics\u003c\/em\u003e.\n\nFrankenstein was a regular feature in \u003cem\u003ePrize Comics\u003c\/em\u003e. He eventually went on to his own title, which began in parallel with his stories in \u003cem\u003ePrize.\u003c\/em\u003e Dick Briefer wrote and drew all the stories. Frankenstein began in the back pages of \u003cem\u003ePrize \u003c\/em\u003eas a lumbering, ugly but essentially good-hearted monster, with slapstick friends and stories. Once the horror boom hit, Briefer adapted his monster to a far more serious one, akin to The Heap. He meted out violent, homicidal justice to those deserving. I actually prefer these dark stories, but the earlier humor work also has its own charm.
