Marvel came along in issue #22 as the new lead feature. Published just prior to the U.S. entering World War II.

Fawcett was a step above the early Golden Age lines -- they were already a successful magazine publisher, and they had more capital to spend on their books than the typical comics publisher. They got the best illustrators, such as Raboy, C.C. Beck, Marc Swayze, Charles Sultan, George Tuska. And they developed superior heroes and heroines, aided by the fine writing of both Otto Binder, Robert Reed and others.

Capt.
