They are already survivors on earth, like the Mom who is obviously ex-military and does what has to be done to stay alive. The Dad is also very capable, but keeps his optimism and hope which his more practical spouse has lost. And their teen-aged daughter starts out naive and a bit coddled, even while they've trained her to fight for her own life and theirs, as a team. But she's going to put together the advanced tech and have a real impact on the outcome of this interesting story. No doubt this could become a fine film.
