Includes some fabulous iconic covers, the legendary bondage sequences, wild early adventures.\n\nWriter Moulston had his own peculiar ideas about tying women up, in fact as an empowering theme, and he thus had WW tied up in nearly every single early adventure. Of course she always gets free, but it was rather strange! It's been the subject of numerous articles and book coverage on Moulston's very unique career and life (he had two wives, one undeclared. That one ended up writing many of the later WW stories). Moulston was a psychologist and inventor (he invented the lie detector).\n\n\u003cem\u003eWonder Woman #1 \u003c\/em\u003eretells her origin. In \u003cem\u003eComics Cavalcade, \u003c\/em\u003ewhich was a thick 15-cent series like \u003cem\u003eWorld's Finest\u003c\/em\u003e, she starred on the cover with The Flash and Green Lantern but inside she was in adventures of her own.\n\n\u003cem\u003eAs a special treat, regular Artist \u003cstrong\u003eH.G. Peter \u003c\/strong\u003edid not do the stories in Sensation #8 and #17-18...the latter two stories are by \u003cstrong\u003eFrank Godwin, \u003c\/strong\u003eand they are the very best drawn WW stories of the entire 1940. Okay, I admit, I am a huge fan of Godwin...he went on to draw the comic strip Rusty Riley for many years, and he was also a big name book and magazine illustrator. So these issues are a real treat, as much as you may enjoy H.G. Peter's rather eccentric but still appealing work! - Bud\u003c\/em\u003e\n\nExplore Wonder Woman's heroic beginnings as she faces off against infamous villains such as Baroness Von Gunther (a recurring villain during her early adventures) and loses her strength!\n\nMarston's character was a native of an all-female utopia of Amazons who became a crime-fighting U.S. government agent, using her superhuman strength and agility, and her ability to force villains to submit and tell the truth by binding them with her magic lasso. Her appearance was believed by some to be based somewhat on Olive Byrne, and her heavy bronze bracelets (which she used to deflect bullets) were inspired by bracelets worn by Byrne.\n\nAfter her name \"Suprema, the Wonder Woman\" was replaced with simply \"Wonder Woman\", which was a popular term at the time to describe women who were exceptionally gifted, the character made her debut in \u003cem\u003eAll Star Comics\u003c\/em\u003e #8 in December 1941. Wonder Woman next appeared in \u003cem\u003eSensation Comics\u003c\/em\u003e #1 (January 1942), and six months later, \u003ci\u003eWonder Woman\u003c\/i\u003e #1 debuted. Except for four months in 1986, the series has been in print ever since. The stories were initially written by Marston and illustrated by newspaper artist Harry Peter.
