You could even say, safely, that Warren here was outdoing EC. Better printing, artists now in their prime, larger format...\n\nFrom Jon Cooke's intro: \"The early issues of \u003cem\u003eCreepy \u003c\/em\u003eand \u003cem\u003eEerie \u003c\/em\u003e(which emerged in '65) contained quite simply some of the best horror comics ever published. Yes, Goodman's stories often paid homage to the old EC Comcis (for instance, usually being narrated by hosts Uncle Creepy and Cousin Eeire, a la EC's Crypt Keeper and the Old Witch), and twiest endings as much as Gaines \u0026amp; Feldstein...but the Warren horror mags were more than a pastiche of a defunct comics line.
