This was a difficult undertaking for Dulac, who moved out of London due to the bombing during the war. The illustrations had to be sent by ship to America to avoid Axis warships and submarines looking to sink any Allied vessel.\n\u003cp\u003eDulac never before tried to illustrate either \u003cem\u003eKing Arthur\u003c\/em\u003e, his 1940 \u003cem\u003eAmerican Weekly\u003c\/em\u003e series, or \u003cem\u003eCanterbury Tales\u003c\/em\u003e, unlike many of his famous contemporaries.
